This album started as an EP of new material (and has been priced as such) but soon morphed into a collection of the ambient works I've written so far. It's a fine thing, I think, to have them all in one spot.

"and_scape" is designed to stimulate creative moments of any kind. In my case, they would involve writing or late night meditations. For you, it could be drawing or dance or dreaming. Anything that provokes the question "And?"

Like most of my works under this name, this album has roots that stretch back to the 1980s, when I was a budding young composer mucking about with tape decks and sound effects records. I mean this literally: I've used the recordings of those early works as the basis of these. Hence, some of these tracks come heavily laden with hiss, which I think improves the ambience. Feel free to disagree or equally to dive deep into the sonic forest in search of what lurks there. You might be surprised.

If you like what you hear on this collection, you will find much more (albeit less ambient) on "un_sound_tracks" and "hiss-stories".
