The Grand Silence

about

This long single-track album is referenced in my novel, Impossible Music. It mutates archival recordings of Armistice Day's two-minute silences to demonstrate how loud silence can actually be, and contains within it a two-minute near-silence as memorial to the memorials that comprise it.

Weaving around notions of memory and absence, The Grand Silence is a slow-burn tribute to all who have lost something or someone significant in their lives.

This recording has toured worldwide as the basis of improvised performances by UnPiano Trio (Derek Pascoe, Johannes S. Sistermanns and Gabriella Smart) and will be released on CD as part of their work.

The price for this soundscape is a nod to Remembrance Day. All earnings will go to charity.

Original and collaborative ambient soundscapes.

My albums with Projekt Records and Aerozine 50 are very much in the drone/lofi vein, without the weird surprises you might find here.

By day I'm a writer and educator at Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia.
