The holiday season can be stressful. Sometimes you just need an hour or two to centre yourself. If that's you, here are two samplers of ambient music, on me. (The other is "the air is full of phantoms".)

The sources on these tracks are listed below. Taken from all the albums I released this year, mixed together to create two very different soundscapes, these excerpts capture my abiding interest in ravelled drones and pulses of deep sound, against a backdrop that hisses with the years. (Many of these tracks feature recordings first made in 1983. For me they have layered like wine.)

This mix is a celebration of noise and darkness: Krampus would approve.

This year has been one of reconnecting with my musical roots. What started as a passing fancy soon blossomed into ten albums, with more to come. I'm proud to share my work with you, rough edges and all.

I hope 2019 was as fulfilling a year for you as it was for me. May 2020 bring you joys unimagined.
